Cooperation agreement between health and American University to enhance government hospitals efficiency

The Minister of Public Health, Rakan Nasser Al -Din and President of the American University of Beirut, Dr. Fadlo Khoury, signed a cooperation agreement between the ministry and the medical center at the American University aimed at supporting government hospitals and enhancing their efficiency through specialized training programs for capacity building and training resident doctors and medical cadres. The agreement includes conducting joint medical research, facilitating the exchange of medical services, establishing treatment programs and departments in government hospitals, according to the National Public Health Strategy approved and applied by the Ministry of Public Health.
The first applied stage of the agreement in the Turkish Hospital in Sidon will begin. The signing ceremony took place at the Halim and Aida Daniel Academic and Knowledge Center at the American University, in the presence of the Minister of Labor, Dr. Muhammad Haidar, Deputy Dr. Abdul Rahman Al -Barzi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the American University, Dr. Raymond Sawaya, head of the surgery department at the university, Dr. Jamal Haballah and those concerned. Mira Wahba pointed out that the agreement reflects the joint commitment to the development of medical care in Lebanon. Then Dr. Khoury spoke, and he said: “The American University has been committed since its foundation to treat people with diseases, epidemics and violence in Lebanon, and the agreement that was signed with the ministry comes from this commitment and to send a clear message that the American University is adhering to the health and education of all Lebanese. In the arrival of the skilled doctors and surgeons in the Turkish Hospital in Sidon and the sons of the south, adding that this step is not the first and will not be the last. He continued that this quality, which restores the citizen’s confidence in government hospitals, requires accumulated university experiences present at the American University and other universities in Lebanon. Reform brings the sons of the homeland between each other, adding that the ministry is open to all other universities to enhance cooperation and raise the level of health service in Lebanon.
