Lebanon towards smart agriculture .. A workshop between the Ministry of Technology and Agriculture Affairs

The Office of the Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, organized a workshop entitled: “Lebanon towards smart agriculture – harnessing artificial intelligence for growth and sustainability.”
The workshop highlighted the pivotal role played by agriculture in the national strategy for food security, sustainable development and economic flexibility in Lebanon, with a focus on how artificial intelligence and digital technologies can reshape this vital sector. The sessions gathered high -level advisers and technical teams from the two ministries, along with international experts, to discuss ways to enhance the contribution of agriculture in the economy and the Lebanese society through Technology. The importance of integrating these solutions was emphasized within the national digital infrastructure (NDI), a strategic initiative led by the Ministry of Technology and Artificial Intelligence, which allows the operation of the agricultural sector through a safe, expandable and integrated digital structure between ministries. This contributes to enhancing transparency, and facilitating the development of future services supported by artificial intelligence in areas such as food safety, agricultural trade, and development The rural. The Minister of Displacement and the Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Kamal Shehadeh said: “Agriculture is not merely cultivation, but it is the pillar of food security, sustainability and national flexibility. By integrating artificial intelligence in this sector, we create a qualitative shift in governance, and we enable resource management in a smartest way, and we are established the pillars of a competitive and sustainable agricultural economy.” In turn, the Minister of Agriculture Nizar said Hani: “The agricultural strategy in Lebanon focuses on securing food supplies, supporting sustainable practices, strengthening the position of Lebanon in regional agricultural trade. By employing smart technologies and digital tools, we can achieve higher productivity, more efficient resource use, and integration with regional and international markets.” This workshop falls within a series of joint ministerial digital transformation initiatives, led by the Ministry of State for Technology Affairs And artificial intelligence. By investing in smart agriculture backed by artificial intelligence, Lebanon takes real steps towards enhancing food security, supporting economic growth, and turning the agricultural sector into a modern, sustainable, and global engine for national flexibility.
