State Security thwarts the smuggling of explosives through Dahr al-Baydar and arrests two Hezbollah members

The Lebanese Internal Security Forces thwarted the transfer of a huge quantity of highly explosive materials, and arrested two people at the strategic Dahr al-Baydar checkpoint, which links the capital, Beirut, to the Bekaa region, all the way to the Syrian border.

In detail, a Lebanese security source reported to Al-Arabiya channel on Friday that checkpoint personnel were able to seize a Dodge Caravan car, inside which half a ton of explosive materials were found, distributed equally, with 250 kilograms of TNT and the same amount of C4 used in sabotage operations.

The Al Arabiya correspondent and the security source indicated that the security forces arrested two people who were traveling in the car, and preliminary investigations revealed their affiliation with Hezbollah.

Following the operation, the detainees and the seized materials were handed over to the Military Police of the Lebanese Army, which initiated investigation procedures under the supervision of the competent judiciary to uncover the circumstances and background of the case.

This operation is of great importance because it took place on the Dahr al-Baydar Road, which is a major vital artery linking Beirut to the Bekaa and the Masnaa border crossing, and witnesses heavy traffic of trucks and civilian vehicles.

These developments coincide with the Lebanese authorities tightening their security measures across various regions, at a time when the government insists on enshrining the principle of restricting weapons to the Lebanese state alone and ending any armed demonstrations outside the framework of legitimate institutions.
