Aoun received the Director General of UNISCO: Lebanon constitutes a civilized bridge between East and West

The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, stressed, during his reception this afternoon at the Baabda Palace, Director General of “UNESCO”, Mrs. Audrey Azouli, in the presence of the Minister of Culture Ghassan Salamah, that “Lebanon is its ancient history and its cultural diversity is a civilized bridge between East and West”, noting that Lebanon is committed to working with UNISCO for the Cultural Heritage Protection and preserving the Lebanese archaeological sites listed on the World Heritage List.
President Aoun thanked Mrs. Azulteh for her constant support for Lebanon since she received her responsibilities in the “UNESCO” organization and for the projects implemented by the organization and those that intend to implement, especially the rehabilitation of the Great Teatro and the train station in Mar Mikhael.
Also, President Aoun also appreciated the leading role of “UNESCO” in the field of education, especially with the challenges facing the Lebanese education sector.
During the meeting, which was attended by Minister Salama, the new head of the Lebanon Mission to “UNESCO”, Ambassador Hind Darwish, President Aoun pointed out the importance of investing in Lebanese youth and developing their capabilities in science and technology.
Mrs. Azulle expressed her happiness to visit Lebanon after five years, stressing the support of “UNESCO” for Lebanon in all fields, expressing her desire to be strong and tangible.
She drew attention to the choice of “UNESCO”, the restoration of two symbolic sites in Beirut in cooperation with the Lebanese authorities and the Ministry of Culture, namely the train station in Mar Mikhael and the Great Teatro building in the commercial center.
Azulé said that work continues to secure the necessary funding to convert these two buildings into cultural teachers, stressing the interest of “UNESCO” in supporting visual arts and handicrafts in Tire and Baalbek, pointing to the care provided by the organization to Lebanese students by qualifying educational institutions affected in events, in addition to contributing to the restoration of cultural institutions.
Mrs. Azulle welcomed the appointment of the Lebanese government to Ambassador Darwish at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, wishing her success in her new tasks.
