French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the dawn of the UN Security Council to extend the mission of the peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) until 2027, stressing at the same time the need for Israeli forces to withdraw from Lebanese border points that are still occupying them, according to “France Press”.

Macron said in a post on the “X” platform, following the phone talks with the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam: “I have been brought up with the courageous decisions taken by the Lebanese executive authority towards restoring exclusive power.
He added that “the French special envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Laudrian,” will visit Lebanon to work alongside the authorities on our priorities as soon as they are adopted. “
He stressed that “the full withdrawal of the Israeli forces from southern Lebanon and the end of all violations of Lebanese sovereignty are essential conditions for the implementation of this plan.”
He added: “France has always shown its willingness to play a role in handing over points that Israel still occupies.” (National Agency)
