The Minister of Energy and Water Joe Sadi said: “On April 15, the directors of the ministry gathered to prepare an emergency plan to treat water scarcity. Among the steps we discussed are to suppress violations, address encroachments, stress immediate maintenance, form additional maintenance teams, prepare a transparent and fair water distribution schedule, and activate unused wells.”
He added during a press conference: “All that we witnessed in the last winter is reflected directly on the availability of water and the production of electricity at the same time.”
He continued, saying: “We will keep pace with the Ministry of the efforts made, we make an awareness campaign, and we communicate with the donors to help, and we take steps for the coming years by preparing proactive emergency plans.”
He said: “We will complete the installation of meters on water and consumer sources.”
Siddiq considered that “the water problem is much greater than the electricity problem, due to the climate change that we cannot control, and therefore we must accelerate the steps and measures that we take.”
