The US State Department announced that the administration of President Donald Trump will start a comprehensive review process for all 55 million US visa holders, to verify any violations that require deportation.
According to the announcement, the residence permits and the deportation of any immigrant will discover the existence of “indicators such as overcoming the visa period, committing a criminal activity, or a threat to public safety, or participating in any way in terrorist activities, or providing support for terrorist organizations.” The review includes “all available information, including criminal records, immigration records or any other information that appears after the visa is granted and indicates lack of eligibility.” This procedure comes within the framework of a broader campaign launched by the Trump administration to tighten control of the visa system, with a special focus on student visas.
