All the signs bearing the phrase “Thank you, Iran” were removed on the road to Rafic Hariri International Airport, and were replaced with new signs bearing the slogan “Lebanon First” accompanied by the Lebanese flag, in a remarkable step at one of the most prominent entrances to the capital, Beirut.

The widespread images showed the installation of new signs along the road, after the previous slogans were removed, in a visual change that reflects the shift in the messages displayed on this vital axis, which constitutes the main interface for those arriving to Lebanon through the airport.

Lebanon Debate had previously learned that the banners that included expressions of thanks to Iran for its efforts to reach a ceasefire would be removed with the expiration of the contract concluded between the party that was required to install them and the company committed to implementing the project, which was expiring on Saturday, in compliance with the terms of the applicable agreement.
The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, had announced, on Thursday, before the Council of Ministers session was held in Baabda Palace, that he had given his directions to remove the previous pictures and paintings, indicating that the concerned authorities would implement this step within the framework of the regulatory measures taken in this regard.

The airport road is considered one of the most sensitive and symbolic roads in the country. Over the past years, it has witnessed the raising of various political slogans and banners, making it a constant focus of controversy and controversy. Today, it has been replaced with the slogan “Lebanon First,” placing a different message on the façade of the southern entrance to the capital.
