Slovan Bratislava, the champion of the Slovak League, announced the appointment of the legendary Ivory Coast star Yaya Toure as the team’s new technical director, on a three-year contract, marking the launch of the former Barcelona and Manchester City player’s first stop as a head coach in his football career.

The appointment of Toure (43 years old) comes to succeed former coach Vladimir Weiss, after the African star spent the past years developing his tactical knowledge and obtaining the necessary training licenses, which culminated in him working as an assistant to Italian coach Roberto Mancini in the technical staff of the Saudi national team.

In his first statement following his appointment, Toure expressed his aspiration to build a strong era with the Slovakian team, stressing his desire to impose an offensive style that relies on dominance and control on the field to please the fans, based on his long cumulative experience that he acquired in the stadiums of the Old Continent.
