The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud Al Thani, in the presence of Dr. Tariq Sadiq, where they discussed political, regional and international developments and their repercussions on Lebanon and the region.

The meeting discussed the role played by Qatar in supporting regional stability, especially the diplomatic efforts made to establish a ceasefire in Lebanon and reduce tension in the Gulf region, in addition to encouraging political solutions and dialogue to address conflicts.

The two sides also discussed the importance of maintaining internal stability and strengthening Lebanese state institutions in light of the current security and economic challenges, with an emphasis on respecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and implementing international resolutions in a way that contributes to consolidating security and advancing the path of national recovery.

Bassil praised Qatari efforts to keep pace with the Lebanese files and support Lebanon at the political, humanitarian and development levels, stressing the importance of continued coordination between regional and international parties to help protect stability and prevent further escalation in the region.

For his part, the Qatari ambassador stressed his country’s keenness to stand by Lebanon and its people, and to continue working with regional and international partners to support security and stability, stressing that dialogue remains the best way to address crises and enhance trust and cooperation among the countries of the region.
