Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received Ambassador Simon Karam, in a meeting devoted to discussing the course of negotiations and the results of the fourth round, in light of current developments and the efforts made to stabilize the ceasefire.
During the meeting, the results of the last round of negotiations were evaluated, in addition to discussing the ongoing preparations for the next round, to ensure keeping pace with the delicate political and security stage.
The research also addressed the necessity of establishing a ceasefire and moving to the experimental areas in preparation for the deployment of the Lebanese army there and the return of the people to their towns and villages.
This path, according to what was discussed, comes in the context of working to achieve Israel’s withdrawal to the recognized international borders, which opens the way for restoring stability to the affected areas.
This political movement comes in light of a sensitive phase that Lebanon is experiencing, as diplomatic efforts overlap with developments on the ground in the south, amid an official effort to stabilize the truce, strengthen the army’s presence, and secure the return of the people, in parallel with pursuing the path of negotiations aimed at ending the escalation and consolidating the state’s authority over its entire territory.
