Denmark national team midfielder, Christian Eriksen, confirmed that he returned home on Monday and continues to recover well, accompanied by his family, after the accident he suffered during the friendly match against Ukraine on Sunday, when he fell on the field.
Eriksen explained in a post on “Instagram” that receiving a shock from the implanted cardiac defibrillator had a major impact on him and his family, but at the same time he stressed that what happened this time is different from what happened to him in 2021.
He added: “I am fine, and my recovery journey has already begun.”
The 34-year-old player caused widespread concern after he grabbed his chest and fell in the 65th minute of the match, which was held in the Danish city of Odense.
It is noteworthy that Eriksen had been exposed to a similar incident during Denmark’s opening match in the Euro 2020 tournament against Finland in 2021 in Copenhagen, where his heart stopped on the field, before he was resuscitated and his life was saved, and he was later implanted with a defibrillator, which allowed him to later return to the stadiums with the clubs and the national team.
