The Lebanese Phalange Party commemorated the martyrdom of the President of the Zgharta Al-Zawiyah Phalange region, Joud Al-Bayeh, during a mass mass held in the Zgharta district with the participation of parliamentary, party, municipal and elective figures, and a crowd of Phalangeists and people of the region.

Representative Nadim Gemayel represented the leadership of the Phalange Party on the occasion, while Representative Adeeb Abdel Masih represented the head of the party, Representative Sami Gemayel, in addition to the presence of a number of mayors, mukhtars, and political, party, and social activists.

After the mass, Gemayel and the attendees headed to the Church of Saint Sarkis and Bacchus, where he laid a wreath on the tomb of Joud Al-Bayeh and his honoree, member of the Phalange Party’s political bureau, Dr. Maria Joud Al-Bayeh, in the presence of family members and residents of the town of Kafr Laqos.

In his speech, Gemayel stressed the importance of honoring the memory of the martyrs and preserving their sacrifices in the national memory, considering that “our martyrs fell for our survival in Lebanon and for us to live in dignity, freedom, equality and democracy.”

He called on the Christians of the North to adhere to unity and solidarity, saying that what is required today is for everyone to stand shoulder to shoulder, and for the pages of the past to be turned in order to strengthen the Christian presence in this region of the East.

He also pointed out that the north has always been a major reservoir for the Phalange Party and the “Cedar Revolution,” calling on the Phalangists to activate party work and expand its presence in Zgharta al-Zawiya, in parallel with the sacrifices of the martyrs who fell over the years.

Gemayel began his visit to the Zgharta district with meetings with local activists. He visited the home of Sheikh Tony Al-Khoury in the town of Arda, where he met with the mayor, Brigadier General Milad Saliba, and members of the municipal council, and received a symbolic gift represented by a Lebanese cedar.

He also visited the residence of the mayor of Rash’in, where he was received by members of the municipal council and mukhtars, and during the meeting, historical milestones related to the visit of the martyr President Bashir Gemayel to the town in 1976 were recalled.

For his part, Nadim Gemayel stressed that the legacy left by Bashir Gemayel constitutes a great responsibility, saying that this legacy is “a tiring cross at times, but it elevates us and our society.”

Gemayel concluded his tour by visiting the Nadeem Al-Bayeh House in Kafr Laqous, before heading to participate in the Divine Mass held for the occasion.

This anniversary comes within the framework of the annual activities held by the Phalange Party to remember its leaders and martyrs, at a time when the party is focusing on revitalizing its organizational presence in a number of Lebanese regions, especially in the north, in conjunction with political and party preparations for the next stage.
