Hundreds of workers at MetLife Stadium in the US state of New Jersey announced a strike to protest their low wages, in a move that coincides with the stadium hosting the most prominent international sporting and entertainment events.

The striking workers, who are responsible for the entry gates, collecting tickets, and directing the fans, explained that their current wages are not commensurate with the huge revenues generated by the stadium. The price of an entry ticket for some major events is about $2,000, while workers receive low wages that are not enough to cover the high costs of living. The union representing employees called for reconsidering current contracts, increasing hourly wages, and improving working conditions to ensure economic justice.

On the other hand, the stadium management expressed its aspiration to reach a quick agreement that satisfies both parties to avoid any negative impact on the busy schedule of events, stressing its commitment to providing a distinctive experience for the fans, while seeking to find solutions that ensure the continuity of work without obstacles.
