The pace of Israeli escalation has increased again in southern Lebanon, with a series of attacks targeting Nabatieh and its surroundings, coinciding with the continuation of Israeli military operations in the region.
In this context, the “Lebanon Debate” correspondent reported that an Israeli drone targeted a car on the Numeiriyah Road in the Nabatieh District.
The National News Agency also reported that there were casualties as a result of a car being targeted on the Zefta-Kafarwa road, while an Israeli drone targeted the Kafr Tibnit roundabout.
In parallel, the towns of Mansouri and Al-Haniya were subjected to artillery shelling, while an Israeli drone raid targeted the vicinity of the popular rescue rally in Nabatieh.
This escalation comes in light of Israeli positions that followed the announcement of the Lebanon Agreement, as Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz confirmed that the Israeli army will continue its operations inside Lebanese territory, and will remain in the security zone up to what he called the “yellow line,” indicating the continuation of operations in the Beaufort area and the dismantling of Hezbollah’s infrastructure.
These developments coincided with the US State Department announcing the agreement of Lebanon and Israel to implement a ceasefire following negotiations that took place in Washington, and to establish Lebanese security zones that the Lebanese army would control exclusively, excluding any non-governmental parties. The agreement also stipulated the continuation of direct negotiations between the two sides and the discussion of political and security paths with the aim of reaching a comprehensive agreement, at a time when military operations and field targeting continue on the ground.
