The Israeli army spokeswoman, Ella Wawiyeh, published on the “X” platform a post that she accompanied with a video in which she addressed the status of the Arabic language, criticizing what she described as its use in insults and insults on social media sites.

Wawiya said in her post: “The language of Al-Dad… the language in which poetry was written, the Qur’an was revealed, and Al-Mutanabbi, Umm Kulthum, Fairouz, and Al-Asma’i sang in it… some of them today use it only for insults, shouting, and insults on social media sites.”

She added: “What a loss… a language that created a civilization, some people turn it into an arena for insults instead of an area for thought and respect,” considering that “words reflect the morals of their owners, and whoever has a language of this beauty does not deserve to summarize it with insults.”

In the attached video, Wawiyah reviewed the position of the Arabic language in poetry, literature, and the Holy Qur’an, citing poetic verses by Hafez Ibrahim and Ahmed Shawqi, in addition to well-known Arabic literary and poetic texts.

She said that Arabic is “the language of poetry, literature, and statement,” adding that it “was not created for insults or moral decadence,” and called for respecting the Arabic language and not using it in offensive comments on social media sites.

She concluded her message by saying: “Respect the language that carries the Qur’an and adorns the greatest poems, speeches, and wisdom, and be ashamed of your blood before you write what exposes your morals before your language.”
