With the arrival of the weekend, the Lebanese are anticipating weather fluctuations that have an unstable spring character, between a drop in temperatures, cloudy conditions, and the possibility of light rain in some areas.
The head of the Surface Estimations Department at the Meteorological Department at Beirut Airport, Muhammad Kanj, confirmed in an interview with “Lebanon Debate” that Lebanon is witnessing volatile and relatively unstable spring weather, under the influence of air masses that dominate the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, which leads to a noticeable drop in temperatures compared to yesterday, ranging between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius.
He explains that the interior regions and the Bekaa are the most affected by this decline, while the coast records a decline of approximately 3 degrees, pointing out that the weather today will be partly cloudy to cloudy with high clouds, with temperatures lower than their seasonal averages, especially in the mountains and interior regions, in addition to the formation of dense fog on the highlands.
He added that the weather may witness light and scattered rain today, which may be muddy at times, especially in the northern regions, starting in the afternoon, with rain chances continuing until tomorrow morning, before the weather begins to gradually stabilize with layers of light dust appearing during the afternoon.
According to expectations, King points out that there will be no actual improvement in temperatures tomorrow, with a gradual and noticeable rise starting on Sunday, making the atmosphere more suitable for sea-goers, as the increase ranges between two and seven degrees depending on the regions, and the mountainous and inland areas will be most affected by the rise in temperature, with an increase ranging between 4 and 7 degrees, while the coast records a rise between 2 and 4 degrees, while the southern regions may witness a rise approaching 5 degrees.
King concludes by pointing out that no additional significant change in temperatures is expected early next week, with a limited rise recorded, pointing out that the depression that was expected to affect Monday has had its chances postponed until the middle of next week between Wednesday and Thursday, with its effectiveness being limited and relatively quick.
