After a disappointing season, Dutchman Arne Slot, coach of the English club Liverpool, denied rumors that he was about to leave the team.
Liverpool exited the current season empty-handed, after being eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals.
The Reds also bid farewell to the League Cup and the FA Cup, and stayed away from competing for the English Premier League title.
Reports had linked Liverpool to signing Spaniard Xabi Alonso, the former coach of Real Madrid, to replace Slot as coach of the team.
The Dutch coach took over the job of coaching Liverpool in the summer of 2024, succeeding the German Jurgen Klopp, who had won the English Premier League title last season.
In a press conference held today, Friday, Slot stated that Liverpool FC made many signings during the last summer transfer period.
He pointed out that Liverpool will witness the departure of two stars from its ranks, namely the Egyptian “Mohamed Salah” and the Scottish “Andrew Robertson.”
The Dutch coach stressed that the future will be promising for his team, noting that Liverpool performed well against Paris Saint-Germain despite the loss.
He concluded his speech by saying: “We played wonderfully. We had possession of the ball against a team that was good at possession. We also directed 21 shots and had more chances to score.”
The day after tomorrow, Sunday, Liverpool will face host Everton in the Merseyside derby. (Erm News)
