FAO in Lebanon: expresses its condolences to the victims and stresses continued support for agriculture

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Lebanon extended, in a statement, its deepest condolences to the Lebanese government and the Lebanese people, against the backdrop of the victims who fell as a result of the recent hostilities.

The organization’s representative in Lebanon, Noura Orabah Haddad, expressed “deep emotion and deep sadness” over the loss of life, in an official letter to the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani. She considered that “this tragedy affects all of Lebanon and leaves a deep impact on the conscience of its people.”

She also expressed her hope that “God will bestow his mercy on the victims, give their families patience and solace, and grant the wounded a speedy recovery,” stressing the prayer that “God will protect Lebanon and bestow security and peace upon it.”

In this regard, she stressed “the strength of the existing partnership between the Food and Agriculture Organization and the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture,” and renewed the organization’s commitment to continuing its support for Lebanon and its people, especially in the field of enhancing food security.

She stressed that “the organization will continue to implement initiatives and projects aimed at supporting the agricultural sector in Lebanon and contributing to achieving food stability, in line with the current challenges that the country is going through.”

The message concluded by affirming “their constant readiness to stand by Lebanon at this sensitive stage,” while expressing sincere respect and appreciation.
