In Abu Dhabi: Expected annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in 2029

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank announced that Abu Dhabi was chosen to host their annual meetings for the year 2029, after a vote was taken by the boards of governors of the two institutions.

It is worth noting that the United Arab Emirates had previously hosted these meetings in 2003, specifically in Dubai.

These annual meetings bring together central bank governors, finance and development ministers, in addition to leaders from the private sector, with the aim of discussing the most important challenges and issues facing the global economy.

These meetings are usually held for two consecutive years at the headquarters of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, and then are held every three years in one of the member states of these two institutions.

It was also announced that the 2026 annual meetings will be held in October in Bangkok, Thailand.
