The head of the Arab Tawhid Party, Wiam Wahhab, said through his account on the X platform, saying: “The Iranians’ arrest of the pilot whose plane was shot down will constitute a political disaster for US President Donald Trump inside the United States.”
Wahab pointed out that this possibility, if confirmed, would place the US government under intense pressure from within, given the sensitivity of the issue and its potential political and military effects.
This statement comes in the midst of successive developments that followed Iran’s announcement of shooting down an American warplane within its borders, amid conflicting information regarding the fate of the plane’s pilot.
While American sources reported that they had carried out search and rescue operations to find the plane’s crew, Iranian media announced that Iranian air defenses had shot down an advanced F-35 fighter plane, indicating the possibility of the pilot being captured.
In addition, videos spread on social media showing American helicopters flying at low altitudes in areas of southwestern Iran, as part of search operations, in conjunction with local residents firing at these aircraft.
On the other hand, other reports stated that a member of the plane’s crew had been rescued, but there was no definitive official confirmation from the American side, which reflects the conflicting news about the fate of the pilots.
This development is considered one of the most dangerous consequences of the current confrontation between Washington and Tehran, because of the political repercussions it could have in the United States, if it is proven that the pilot was captured.
