The newspaper “Haaretz” published information obtained from diplomatic sources, stating that “two Israeli and American delegations will hold a meeting in the next few days as part of preparations for talks between Lebanon and Israel.”
The sources continued, saying, “The Lebanese-Israeli negotiations will take place directly, and Minister Ron Dermer will represent the Israeli side.”
She also explained that “US envoy Jared Kushner is the one leading the American mediation efforts between Lebanon and Israel.”
The sources hinted that “negotiations between the two sides may be held in Cyprus or Paris.”
These diplomatic efforts come amid escalating tensions along the southern Lebanese border since the beginning of the recent regional war, and the accompanying repeated clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.
It is noteworthy that the United States played a mediating role between the two parties in several issues in recent years, the most important of which is the maritime border demarcation agreement that was concluded in 2022.
