A new maritime accident hits the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran reveals the circumstances

Field developments have returned to the forefront of the scene in the Strait of Hormuz, following the Iranian Army Navy’s announcement on Tuesday that a fire had broken out inside an oil tanker in the southern passage of the Strait.

The Iranian Navy reported that the tanker violated applicable instructions and turned off its tracking systems while trying to cross a prohibited area, despite receiving prior warnings.

In a related context, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stressed, during a press conference held today, the need for the Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Gulf region to derive its security exclusively from the countries overlooking this vital waterway.
