Free Lebanon calls for those responsible for the dangerous Dahr al-Baydar file to be held accountable

The “Free Patriots” party launched a series of positions that addressed developments in the security, political and social files in Lebanon and abroad, at the forefront of which was the issue of explosives seized at the Dahr al-Baydar checkpoint, the land purchase file, and the closure of public schools in the Chouf and Aley, in addition to the attack that targeted an airport in Saudi Arabia, renewing its call to confine arms to the state and implement international resolutions.

In a statement it issued, the party denounced what it described as “the security scandal represented by the seizure of quantities of explosives at the Dahr al-Baydar checkpoint in the possession of members affiliated with Hezbollah, and prepared for use in assassinations and internal bombing projects.” He considered that this incident confirms the continuation of the “statelet logic” and its threat to civil peace, calling on the security and judicial services to lift the political cover on those involved, reveal what he described as a “sabotage plan,” and prosecute those responsible for it.

Regarding livelihood and social matters, the “Free Patriots” warned of what he described as “continuous schemes to purchase systematic lands” in Christian towns and areas and the outskirts, considering that their goal is to bring about a demographic change that threatens balance and coexistence. He called on the people to hold on to their lands, calling on the real estate departments and concerned parties to stop “suspicious” deals and protect the identity of the villages.

The party also touched on the closure of public schools in the villages of Chouf and Aley, rejecting this step as it undermines the right of the people of the region to education and pushes the people towards migration and displacement. He called on the Ministry of Education to immediately reverse the decision and ensure the continuation of these educational edifices.

At the regional level, the party condemned the missile targeting of a civilian airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering that the attack “harms Arab national security,” and declaring its full solidarity with the Kingdom’s leadership and people.

The “Free Patriots” party concluded its statement by affirming that their strategy is based on extending the authority of the state and the Lebanese army exclusively over the entire Lebanese territory, and implementing international resolutions 1559, 1680, and 1701, in addition to adopting neutrality to neutralize Lebanon from the conflicts of the axes.

This position comes at a time when the issue of explosives seized at the Dahr al-Baidar checkpoint has returned to the political forefront, coinciding with the continuation of official investigations to uncover the source of these materials, their destination, and the parties associated with them.
