The son of a Hezbollah official was arrested in connection with an explosives case

Beirut – A Lebanese judicial source revealed to Agence France-Presse that one of those arrested in the case of the explosives shipment seized in the Dahr al-Baydar area is the son of a Hezbollah official, confirming that the second suspect also belongs to the party, at a time when no official confirmation has been issued by the Lebanese authorities about this information.

In detail, the source – who preferred to remain anonymous – explained that an Internal Security Forces checkpoint stopped the two men on Thursday afternoon, while they were traveling in a car heading towards the capital, Beirut, on the international road in Dahr al-Baydar.

The source added that the search of the car resulted in the seizure of 500 kilograms of explosive materials, divided equally into 250 kilograms of TNT and the same amount of highly explosive C4. He pointed out that the final destination of these explosives has not yet been decided, but preliminary data from investigators suggests that the seized items are linked to Hezbollah, with reservations about revealing the identity of the official, whose son is believed to be one of the detainees.

In a related development, the Minister of Justice, Adel Nassar, confirmed in a post on the “X” platform on Saturday that the ongoing investigations into the case of the seized explosives and all its leads will be completed until the end.

Nassar stressed that efforts to disarm illegal weapons, combat terrorism, and pursue outlaws are “an irreversible path that will witness acceleration in the next stage.”
