Croatian Dragan Talajic, coach of the Bahraini national team, has raised the bar with the start of preparations for the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup Football Championship “Gulf 27”, which is hosted by the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, during the period from September 23 to October 6.
Talajic confirmed, in press statements on the sidelines of the team’s training, that the team came to Jeddah with the aim of defending its title and returning the cup to Manama again, stressing at the same time the difficulty of the task. He said: “We respect all participating teams, and opportunities are equal for everyone since the start of the competitions, and whoever seeks to win the title must prove his worth inside the green rectangle.”
The Croatian coach refused to provide any prior justifications, considering that there was no room to comment on the results related to injuries or climatic conditions, and explained that the temperatures and weather would be the same for all participating teams. He added, expressing his admiration for the host city: “I love Jeddah, and I hope to continue there for as long as possible during our journey in the tournament.”
The Bahraini national team (the defending champion) will begin its journey in the tournament with a heavy-caliber confrontation, when it faces its Qatari counterpart (the champion of the last two editions of the Asian Cup) next Thursday.
