Frenchman Patrick Vieira, the legend of the English club Arsenal, broke his silence after his appointment as the new coach of the Senegal national team, expressing his feeling of “honor and pride” to take over the leadership of the national team of the country in which he was born.
The Senegalese Football Association reached an agreement with Vieira regarding his appointment as technical director of the “Tiranga Lions” team last month, which represents an important personal milestone in the former midfielder’s career.
Through social media, and before his official press conference, the former coach of the English Crystal Palace and the French clubs, Nice, expressed his gratitude for this appointment.
Vieira wrote through the “Stories” feature on his Instagram account: “I feel honored and proud to join Senegal as coach of the first national team.”
He added: “I thank the Senegalese Football Association for their trust. I look forward to meeting the group and starting to work together on the next steps. Let’s go, lions!” (Russia Today)
