This punishment comes against the backdrop of the riots that took place in Marseille’s match against Belgian Club Brugge in the Champions League last January, which ended with the French team losing 3-0. His fans used fireworks inside the stands in clear violation of the disciplinary regulations of the European Football Association (UEFA).
This administrative decision constitutes a painful blow to Marseille fans who were preparing to accompany their team on its trip to Istanbul, especially since this confrontation witnesses the return of the French team to appear and compete in European championships.
