The Jordanian Armed Forces thwarted an infiltration attempt through one of the border fronts on Saturday evening, after border guard forces spotted 4 people trying to cross the border illegally, before arresting them and referring them to the competent authorities.
The Northern Military District announced that the Border Guard forces were able to monitor the four people while they were trying to cross the border, and dealt with them immediately according to the applicable rules of engagement.
According to the statement, the forces succeeded in arresting the infiltrators without allowing them to cross the border, before handing them over to the competent authorities to complete investigations and legal procedures against them.
The Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed that the border guard units continue to perform their duty “with full vigilance and determination,” within the framework of their responsibility to protect the Kingdom’s borders and preserve its sovereignty.
It stressed the continued response to any infiltration attempts or illegal activities that would undermine Jordan’s security and stability.
The operation comes within the framework of security measures implemented by the Jordanian Armed Forces along the Kingdom’s borders, where border guard units are responsible for monitoring border crossings and areas and dealing with attempts at illegal crossing in accordance with approved military rules and procedures.
