At a time when a verbal debate emerged between a number of supporters of the “Amal” movement and “Hezbollah” against the backdrop of the visit of the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, to Nabatieh in southern Lebanon two days ago, information reveals a move by both parties to contain the tension and prevent its expansion to the popular bases, in parallel with raising the level of political and organizational coordination between them in an attempt to control the differences and keep them under the roof of the relationship between the two components of the “Shiite duo.”
In detail, during the last hours, a verbal debate was recorded between a number of supporters of the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, against the backdrop of Aoun’s visit, amid differences in positions regarding its timing and political participation in it.
According to information, part of the discussion focused on the participation of MP Nasser Jaber, affiliated with the “Amal” movement bloc, in the visit, which was criticized by supporters of the “party,” which sparked mutual comments between supporters of both parties on social media.
In the face of the escalation of the controversy, concerned parties in Amal and Hezbollah moved towards calming the atmosphere, with clear calls to supporters to stop the verbal escalation and not be drawn into debates that would strain the relationship between the two parties’ audiences.
Information indicates that the prevailing trend on both sides is to “cool down” the discourse at the current stage and not to raise the level of tension, especially in light of the sensitivity of the current political and security situation.
This comes at a time when information indicates that the level of coordination between “Hezbollah” and the “Amal Movement” has become more stable during the recent period, with communication between the two sides moving to a more regular pace and at higher political and organizational levels, after a phase that witnessed fluctuation imposed by the circumstances of the war and a decline in regular political communication with the “party” during it.
According to informed sources, the return of regular communication channels contributed to addressing a number of discrepancies that appeared during the last stage, especially after the debates that broke out between the two parties’ audiences on social media sites, and in some cases almost expanded the area of tension between the popular bases.
The sources confirm that the two parties are currently working to contain any problem from its beginning and prevent the transmission of political or field differences to the public, while searching for solutions to the points that are still the subject of disagreement between them. Existing contacts do not mean the disappearance of differences, but they reflect a joint decision not to allow them to turn into a division that will affect the relationship between the two parties or their audiences.
In this context, attempts to contain the recent controversy come within the framework of an effort to prevent the hypothetical dispute from moving to other levels, and to avoid any vibration in the relationship between the two audiences of the “Shiite duo,” at a time when current developments require keeping the differences under a controlled political ceiling.
