Today at dawn, the Nabatieh region witnessed a massive Israeli escalation, with a series of air strikes targeting a number of areas and towns, coinciding with the recording of a displacement movement from the vicinity of Nabatieh in light of the intensity of the raids and the continued overflights in the air.
During the hours of dawn until 5:00 am, Israeli warplanes launched 7 raids on Ali Al-Tahir Heights, in one of the heaviest waves of bombing that targeted the region in recent hours.
The warplanes also launched a raid on the Muraisa area – Wadi Khalil in the town of Ansar, where search and rescue operations began immediately at the targeted location amid information about a number of casualties.
According to preliminary information, the raid on Ansar resulted in the death of 3 people so far, while the concerned teams continue to search the site for injuries or other people under the rubble.
Preliminary field information indicates that the death toll may rise to 6, but this toll has not yet been decided pending the end of search and rescue operations and the issuance of a final official toll.
In parallel, Israeli warplanes targeted Nabatieh Al-Fawqa with 3 raids in the vicinity of the Al-Sabah area, which led to the sound of strong explosions being heard in and around the area.
The intensity of the raids, which were concentrated during the dawn hours, led to a record displacement movement from the Nabatieh area, with a number of residents leaving towards other areas for fear of renewed attacks.
The aerial bombardment coincided with a sweep with machine guns towards the town of Beit Yahoun and the outskirts of the town of Baraashit, as part of the ongoing field escalation in southern Lebanon.
This escalation comes at a time when several southern regions are witnessing continued security tension, with the continuation of Israeli raids and operations in a number of axes, while the areas surrounding Nabatieh and on the contact lines remain vulnerable to repeated military movements.
Ali Al-Taher Heights is one of the prominent geographical locations in the Nabatieh region, and has witnessed repeated Israeli operations and attacks over the past period, due to its location overlooking a wide area of the surrounding villages and valleys.
As for the town of Ansar, located in the Nabatieh district, it includes residential areas and large agricultural lands, and its targeting raises additional fears among residents, especially with the continued search operations at the site of the raid and the final outcome is not yet clear.
The recording of the new displacement movement comes to add more pressure on the residents of the region, in light of the state of anticipation imposed by the successive raids, especially since the latest wave of bombing was concentrated during the dawn hours and included more than one point in the vicinity of Nabatieh within a short period of time.
