The Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health announced that the final toll of the Israeli raid that targeted the town of Ansar in the Nabatieh District amounted to 7 martyrs, including 3 children and 2 women.
The National News Agency had previously reported that 7 martyrs were killed and 3 people were injured as a result of the raid that targeted a house at dawn today on the outskirts of the town of Ansar, before the Ministry of Health announced the final toll and clarified that among the martyrs were children and women.
The raid came as part of a large-scale Israeli escalation in the Nabatieh area since the dawn hours, as Israeli warplanes launched more than 12 raids until 5:00 am, distributed between Ali Al-Taher Heights, Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, and the town of Ansar.
Military aircraft targeted Ali Al-Taher Heights with 8 raids, while Nabatieh Al-Fawqa was subjected to 3 raids, while a two-missile raid targeted a house and a chalet on the outskirts of the town of Ansar.
Israeli warplanes continued to fly throughout the hours of dawn and into the morning, and carried out mock raids over a number of southern villages, coinciding with the dropping of thermal balloons.
Israeli helicopters also carried out extensive sweeping operations with machine guns over the Ali Al-Taher Heights, in conjunction with heavy smoke bombing in the area.
The escalation extended to artillery shelling, as Israeli artillery targeted Dabsha Hill, Doha Kafr Rumman, Wadi Al-Saluki, and Wadi Al-Hujair at dawn, while the town of Beit Yahoun and the outskirts of Bara’shit were subjected to machine-gun bursts.
The intensity of the attacks led to a record displacement movement from the Nabatieh area, with a number of residents leaving their areas for fear of expanding the scope of the raids and renewed targeting.
The dawn escalation came as an extension of a wide wave of Israeli operations that began during the night hours and yesterday, as Israeli warplanes launched two raids at night on the town of Al-Mansouri, in addition to a raid on Wadi Al-Saluki from the Qantara side.
Israeli bombing operations also continued in a number of southern regions and towns, affecting Hadatha, Kunine, Bint Jbeil, Masha’ Al-Mansouri, Al-Taybeh, and the vicinity of Markaba and Rab Thilaine.
In parallel, the outskirts of Mifdoun, Al-Dabsha, Ali Al-Taher Heights, Doha Kafr Rumman, Bani Hayyan, Wadi Al-Saluki, Hadada, and the outskirts of Zabqin were subjected to heavy Israeli artillery shelling.
The bombing was accompanied by sweeping operations with machine guns that targeted Al-Khiam, Mays Al-Jabal, Aita Al-Jabal, and Al-Mansouri, while Israeli forces burned and bulldozed dozens of homes in Beni Hayyan, Hadada, Mays Al-Jabal, and Al-Taybeh.
Israeli drones also dropped explosive gallons over the Al-Mansouri Masha’a, Ali Al-Taher Heights, and the Aita Al-Jabal and Haris forests, which led to the outbreak of fires in a number of locations.
The martyrdom of 3 children and 2 women in Ansar highlights the civilian cost of the recent escalation, at a time when the south remained in a cautious calm in the morning after a night and dawn of raids, bombing, and intense overflights.
