According to a report published in “Bloomberg”, the United Kingdom is working to prepare a new organizational framework for artificial intelligence in the health care sector, with the aim of protecting patients and enhancing the country’s attractiveness to investments in health technology.

The government announced the formation of a national committee that includes doctors, academics and experts in the organization, as well as consulting with major technological companies such as “Microsoft” and “Google”, in order to set recommendations that are scheduled to contribute to the formulation of an organizational framework published in 2026.

This step comes in light of the increasing dependence on artificial intelligence techniques in the medical field, such as tools that help in writing down doctors’ notes, analyzing radiology, exploring huge diagnostic databases, and medical devices adaptive to the patient’s condition. However, these tools are still subject to the statute of limitations and formulas more than two decades ago, which raised fears that they would not accompany the rapid development.

The World Health Organization has also warned of the risks related to these technologies, including unethical collection, cyber threats, and bias. On the international level, the European Union adopted the artificial intelligence law that includes the rules of medical devices, but faced criticism from technology companies.

The British move comes as part of its endeavor to achieve a balance between taking advantage of the capabilities of medical artificial intelligence and ensuring patient protection, while making the organization environment clear and capable of attracting investments.
