In the context, the commander of the Western Region in the General Administration of the Border Guard at the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that “the Syrian forces were installed in the Sarghaya area on the border with Lebanon, a tight ambush to control the shipment of narcotic substances that were heading towards the Syrian territories.” He stated that “when the Lebanese smugglers arrived at the aforementioned site, they were shot at the Syrian smuggler and the border guards, which led to a clash that resulted in the killing of a Lebanese smuggler, the arrest of another after his injury, as he was referred to the competent judiciary, and the aforementioned shipment was seized.”
