Syria welcomes the lifting of US sanctions … and a new page with Washington opened

The Syrian government welcomed the decision of the US Treasury to remove the name of Syria from the sanctions regulations listed in the federal law code, in a move that comes to follow up on the executive orders issued by US President Donald Trump regarding the lifting of sanctions.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed, according to the “SANA” agency, that this step represents a “positive development in the right direction”, that would directly reflect on the humanitarian and economic conditions of the Syrian people, and facilitate the commercial and financial movement, and reduce restrictions on American exports to Syria, in a way that opens new horizons for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
