Amid efforts to implement the understandings in southern Lebanon, the Israeli ambassador to Washington revealed a new approach upon which the next stage will be based, which is based on the establishment of what he described as “experimental areas,” in preparation for testing the mechanism for implementing the framework agreement and the deployment of the Lebanese army there.

The Israeli ambassador to Washington said that work is currently underway to prepare “experimental areas” in southern Lebanon, in coordination with the American and Lebanese armies, with the aim of creating conditions for implementing the framework agreement.

He explained that the next stage aims to make these areas ready to receive and deploy the Lebanese army, noting that Israel will continue to withdraw if the experiment in these areas succeeds, but if it does not succeed, the Israeli forces will remain there.

These statements come in light of the continuation of contacts related to the mechanisms for implementing the understandings related to southern Lebanon, especially those related to the deployment of the Lebanese army in the border areas, amid American follow-up of the executive path and the existing coordination between the parties concerned.
