The “Archivo Far” account, which specializes in analyzing arbitration cases, settled the debate, stressing that the goal was legal and did not require the intervention of video technology to cancel it.
The account explained that the ball first bounced off Rabiot’s foot before accidentally touching his hand, which is not considered a violation according to the laws of the game.
He added that the video technology protocol does not allow reviewing such cases as long as the touch was accidental, and the player whose hand touched the ball was not the one who scored the goal.
Accordingly, the arbitration experts considered that the referee’s decision to award Mbappé’s goal was correct and consistent with FIFA laws.
The French national team had qualified for the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup after defeating Morocco 2-0, in a match that witnessed the brilliance of goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who saved a penalty kick taken by Mbappe, despite the “Atlas Lions” exit from the tournament. (Russia Today)
