Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmed Al-Hajjar praised the security operation carried out by the Internal Security Forces, which led to the seizure of a large quantity of Captagon pills and the arrest of a number of those involved in the smuggling operation, including the mastermind of the network.
Al-Hajjar stressed that the agencies of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities are once again proving their high readiness and efficiency in pursuing drug smuggling networks and thwarting their plans, based on precise professional work and speed in follow-up and action.
He pointed out that coordination and exchange of information with the Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia constituted a supportive factor for this security achievement, reflecting the keenness of the two brotherly countries to protect their societies from the scourge of drugs.
He explained that the Central Narcotics Control Office in the Judicial Police Unit of the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces succeeded in carrying out the operation following accurate information received through the General Directorate of Narcotics Control in the Saudi Ministry of Interior, about the presence of a large quantity of Captagon pills prepared for smuggling and hidden inside a warehouse in the Jiyyah area.
He pointed out that the specific operation resulted in the seizure of the warehouse’s contents and the arrest of a number of those involved, including the mastermind of the network.
Al-Hajjar stressed that this security achievement reflects the level of trust and coordination existing between Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that the procedures and measures implemented by the Lebanese security services contributed to strengthening this confidence and opened the door to the resumption of Lebanese exports to the Kingdom.
