Press reports revealed the interest of Al Hilal Saudi Club in contracting with Portuguese Vitor Pereira, the current coach of the English club Nottingham Forest, in anticipation of the possibility of a change at the head of the technical staff during the coming period.

According to what sports journalist Ben Jacobs said through his account on the “X” platform, Al Hilal’s management has expressed its willingness to make a large financial offer in order to convince Pereira to return to the Saudi League.

These moves come in light of the lack of clarity regarding the future of Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, as the possibility of his departure from “Al-Zaeem” still exists this summer, which prompted the administration to open lines of communication with a number of prominent coaching names to ensure the readiness of potential replacements.

At the same time, Al Hilal management continues to work on the file of sporting director, as Scottish Richard Hughes is close to assuming the position in the coming period, after news linked him to leaving Liverpool.

Previous reports indicated that the new sports director will have a pivotal role in deciding Inzaghi’s future, whether by continuing with the team or making a decision to search for a new technical staff for next season.

Inzaghi took over the leadership of Al Hilal in the summer of last year, and succeeded in achieving remarkable results, most notably reaching the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup, after the historic victory over Manchester City with a score of 4-3, before his adventure ended with a loss to Brazilian Fluminense with a score of 2-1.

The Italian coach also led Al-Hilal to win the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup title in the 2025-2026 season, after winning the final match against Al-Khulood with a score of 2-1 at Al-Enmaa Stadium in Jeddah.

Al-Hilal finished the season in second place in the Saudi Roshan Professional League table with 84 points, just two points behind Al-Nasr, which won the title.

Vitor Pereira has previous experience in Saudi football, after he took over Al-Shabab, and is currently working on preparing Nottingham Forest for the new season, in conjunction with negotiations to extend his contract with the English club after receiving an official offer to continue in his position.
