Syrian Energy Minister Muhammad al-Bashir announced that American companies have begun taking practical steps to work and invest in the Syrian market, in an indication of a new economic openness that the country is witnessing, according to “Russia Today.”

Al-Bashir wrote on the “X” platform: “We welcome the increasing interest from the American private sector, as American companies have already begun practical steps to work and invest in the Syrian market.”

He added that he discussed, during a meeting with the US Secretary of Energy, “ways to expand cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector,” noting that this cooperation aims to support development and reconstruction efforts in Syria.

Al-Bashir stressed his aspiration to establish “sustainable economic partnerships based on solid foundations,” including technology transfer and job creation, which would contribute to enhancing stability and prosperity in the country.
