On Monday evening, the Brazilian Football Confederation issued an official statement addressing the developments in the injury of its veteran star, Neymar.

Brazilian national team coach Carlo Ancelotti invited Neymar da Silva after his remarkable performance with the Santos team.

However, the player suffered an injury before the start of the “Seleção” preparatory camp for the 2026 World Cup, which prevented him from participating in the two friendly matches against Panama and Egypt.

The Brazilian Federation statement said: “Neymar underwent an MRI today, Monday, and the tests showed a positive development in his treatment within the expected rehabilitation program.”

The statement added: “Neymar will continue his rehabilitation program to recover as planned by the Brazilian national team’s medical committee.”

The statement did not resolve the controversy over Neymar’s participation in the Brazilian team’s first match in the 2026 World Cup against its rival, Morocco, on June 15.
