In light of the continuation of Israeli military operations inside southern Lebanon, the commander of the reconnaissance unit of the “Givati” Brigade in the Israeli army, Lieutenant Colonel “A,” revealed new details about the ongoing confrontations with Hezbollah, speaking about direct clashes and operations targeting weapons depots and drone operating cells in the eastern Zawtar region.

According to a report by journalist Avi Ashkenazi published by the Israeli “Yediot Ahronoth” website, the commander of the reconnaissance unit confirmed that his forces continue to operate in the eastern Zawtar region “in the face of an enemy who is constantly trying to adapt to the battlefield,” as he put it, stressing that the initiative is still in the hands of the Israeli army.

He said: “In recent days, we have found and destroyed several important weapons depots in operations carried out by the Shaked Battalion and the Givati Reconnaissance Unit. We also continue to kill fighters and target the enemy’s capabilities in a way that makes it difficult for it to reorganize its ranks.”

He added that what he described as “field achievements” were the result of professionalism, enthusiasm for engagement, and systematic work carried out by the forces, noting that the Israeli army was able, during the last 24 hours, to target a cell operating marches and kill 3 of its members.

He said: “We do not wait for the threat to reach us, but rather we discover it, pursue it, and remove it from the field.”

He explained that the Israeli forces continue to exert continuous pressure on Hezbollah in various areas of operations, adding: “Every infrastructure site we find, every weapons depot that is discovered, and every fighter that is killed, reduces the enemy’s margin of movement and deepens our operational control on the ground. We maintain a high offensive pace and do not allow the enemy to recover.”

The unit commander revealed one of the recent confrontations that took place in southern Lebanon, saying: “In one of the recent battles, a force from the reconnaissance unit fought a face-to-face clash with fighters, and was able to kill 3 of them and end the incident without any casualties among our forces.”

He added that this confrontation reflects, as he described it, “the professionalism and determination that distinguish the unit’s fighters in every contact with the enemy.”

He continued: “We target fighters, uncover combat means, destroy military infrastructure, and prevent the enemy from restoring its capabilities. The fighters work with determination and professionalism in every mission, based on the understanding that the goal is to systematically dismantle the military structure, rob it of its capabilities and prevent it from regaining its strength.”

These statements reflect the continued Israeli bet on ground operations inside southern Lebanon to weaken Hezbollah’s military capabilities, at a time when field developments confirm that the confrontation is still open to new rounds of attrition and direct clashes between the two parties.
