In a move that reflects the escalation of American involvement in the Lebanese file, an Israeli media report stated that the United States is considering assigning its army to train the Lebanese army as part of a broader plan aimed at confronting Hezbollah and advancing its disarmament.

The report indicated that the proposed plan includes training the Lebanese army and enhancing its capabilities to be the body responsible for dealing with the security challenges associated with Hezbollah, within the framework of American efforts aimed at establishing new security arrangements in the Lebanese arena.
According to the same sources, the atmosphere of the talks that took place in the American capital was described as positive, and it also resulted in achieving some points of understanding between the two sides regarding files on the table for discussion.
This proposal comes at a time when Washington is intensifying its political and diplomatic efforts to stabilize the ceasefire on the Lebanese front and transform it into a more stable path, amid continuing negotiations aimed at addressing the outstanding security issues between Lebanon and Israel.
The report reveals an increasing American tendency to give the Lebanese army a pivotal role in any future arrangements, at a time when the Hezbollah weapons file remains one of the most sensitive and complex files at the Lebanese and regional levels.
