The first round of talks between the Lebanese and Israeli delegations has not succeeded, so far, in reaching decisive points related to the issue of a ceasefire, despite discussions described as serious about some of the ideas on the table.
A Lebanese source told Sky News Arabia that today’s first session of talks between the Lebanese and Israeli delegations witnessed a serious discussion about some ideas, but the two parties have not yet been able to reach decisive points regarding the issue of a ceasefire.
The source added that the delegations of Lebanon, Israel, and the United States are presenting ideas and proposals that will form material for research and discussion in Wednesday’s session.
He pointed out that the Israeli delegation still adheres to the issue of freedom of military action if any threats related to Hezbollah are detected.
The source explained that if a ceasefire is agreed upon, the Lebanese and Israeli parties will discuss paths related to this issue.
These data come in light of the continuation of negotiations under American auspices, amid a Lebanese effort to establish a comprehensive ceasefire, in exchange for an Israeli adherence to the margins of military action in southern Lebanon, which makes Wednesday’s session an essential station to test the possibility of achieving actual progress in this file.
