The “Lebanon Debate” correspondent reported that Israeli forces arrived in the vicinity of Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, in a move that reflects the continued Israeli field progress in the region in conjunction with the escalation of military confrontations on the southern front.
This development comes amid ongoing military operations taking place in the areas south of the Litani, where Israel has intensified its air strikes and ground movements in recent days, in parallel with sporadic clashes and operations Hezbollah announced to carry out against Israeli forces in a number of axes.
Beaufort Castle is considered one of the most prominent historical and strategic landmarks in southern Lebanon, as it overlooks large areas of the Nabatieh and Marjayoun regions, which gives it great military and field importance in any confrontation taking place in its surroundings.
The arrival to the vicinity of the castle comes at a time when warnings are mounting about the expansion of the scope of military operations, with continued tension along the southern front, and the exchange of strikes between Israel and Hezbollah despite international efforts aimed at containing the escalation.
