An Apple spokesperson declined to comment, noting that the company usually tests several feature designs internally, and the final version that will be announced in June may differ.
“Apple” and updating “Siri”
It seems that this launch will be a pivotal moment in Apple’s strategy related to artificial intelligence, as it seeks to catch up with competitors such as Open AI, Google, and Samsung Electronics.
This step has been long overdue, as Apple had demonstrated some of these technologies for the first time in 2024, but it faced a series of postponements that made it fall further behind its competitors and affected its reputation.
The new version of Siri, which is the biggest update to the assistant in about 15 years, is expected to be released to users starting next September.
This launch may be the last major new product announcement for CEO Tim Cook before handing over leadership to John Ternos, the veteran leader of the company’s hardware division.
The success or failure of new artificial intelligence features will also contribute to determining consumer reactions to the iPhone 18 Pro series expected this fall, in addition to Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
The new version of Siri will include delayed features announced in 2024, such as the ability to understand personal data and analyze on-screen content.
But these capabilities are just part of a broader wave of improvements, including a new model rebuilt using Google’s Gemini AI, AI-powered online search, and a completely redesigned user interface.
Apple is also working on developing an independent application for Siri that aims to directly compete with GBT Chat and other artificial intelligence assistants.
A look at the new Siri
Apple has redesigned Siri to fit modern iPhone devices, where it will work as an ever-appearing assistant within the “Dynamic Island” to help users carry out tasks across the operating system and within applications.
The system will be able to take advantage of Internet data, personal information, and what appears on the user’s screen to accomplish tasks.
There will be two ways to activate Siri. The traditional method, by saying “Siri” or long pressing the power button on the iPhone, will trigger a new “Siri” animation inside the “Dynamic Island”, which is the capsule-shaped element that “Apple” introduced for the first time in 2022.
This mode will be mainly intended for voice inquiries and searches.
The second method is completely new, as Apple plans to allow users to swipe down from the top center of the iPhone screen anywhere within the system to launch a new interface called “Search or Ask.”
