The club said in a statement: “The closing stage was completely inconsistent with the performance that preceded it, as the disappointing loss in the last match last night turned the season into an outright failure.”
Allegri returned to lead Milan in another coaching term this season, after leading the club from 2010 until January 2014. The team competed for the Italian League title during most of the season, but its level declined severely in the end, which led to the coach’s dismissal.
The club said: “Further appointments will be announced in due course, with the aim of preparing well for next season.” (Arm News)
