The National Litani River Authority announced, in a statement issued by it, that an emergency malfunction had been recorded in the valve of pressure breaker No. 9 in the town of Shawalik.
The authority explained that as a result of this malfunction, it will be forced to cut off irrigation water starting at noon on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, for a period of no less than three days, stressing that the interruption will include the northeastern side of the project, starting from the pressure breaker point No. (2) located in the Qasr Hill area in Kfarfalous.
In this context, the technical teams in the Libaa Irrigation Department are beginning the work of removing the plugs to determine the nature and size of the fault, in preparation for implementing the necessary repairs, under the supervision of the Investment and Maintenance Department of the National Litani River Authority.
The water outage affects the following areas and towns: Kfarfalos, Marah Al-Habbas, Lebaa, Karkha, Baqsta, Shawalik, parts of Ain Al-Mir, Wadi Baanqudin, Kefraya, Kfarjara, Al-Salihiya, Al-Qarya (Al-Qarqashiya), Majdelyoun, and Abra.
The Authority called on subscribers and farmers in the aforementioned areas to irrigate their crops in advance, and to take the necessary precautions to overcome the downtime period, noting that water will be pumped back as soon as maintenance work is completed and the line is returned to service.
The authority concluded by confirming that its technical teams will work to complete the work as quickly as possible to limit the interruption period and ensure that supply is restored in a safe and regular manner.
