Member of the “Loyalty to the Resistance” bloc, Representative Ali Fayyad, said that the recent developments showed that the Lebanese authority “has slid into the abyss of direct negotiations,” considering that it has entered into a political impasse in which it is committed to “dangerous concessions without any gains,” within a path that carries serious repercussions for the state and society in Lebanon.
Fayyad’s words came during the honoring celebration held by Hezbollah for the martyr Ahmed Abdel Nasser Abdullah in Husseiniyat Al-Hadi in Al-Awza’i, in the presence of scholars, figures, figures, families of martyrs, and a crowd of people.
Fayyad said, “What the Israelis are aiming for is to push the Lebanese into an open conflict between them, to turn the Lebanese entity into pieces,” considering that the goal is to “cut off part of Lebanese territory, stir up divisive tendencies, and reshape the Lebanese reality in a way that suits Israeli aspirations and within the Israeli sphere of influence.”
He added that “the Israeli is fully aware that the authority does not have the ability to implement what it is committed to,” noting that “in every negotiating round, it extracts additional concessions and then turns them into commitments that it demands that the Lebanese authority implement.”
Fayyad considered that this path “will not end until the Lebanese reality pushes it to explode,” at a time when “Israeli attacks continue through massacres, destruction, bulldozing, and assassinations,” as he put it, criticizing what he described as “empty talk about a ceasefire.”
He stressed that the Lebanese authority is required to “think carefully” about calling on the Secretary-General of Hezbollah to cooperate on the basis of achieving the five Lebanese demands, and to consider them as “constants of the national position,” calling for pushing towards “a comprehensive national position in which everyone stands on common ground that restores land and protects stability.”
