In an interview with “RED TV,” the legal expert, lawyer Ali Ashmar, considered that the American sanctions are considered interference in the Lebanese penal code and politics, and the Lebanese state will not accept them. He said that the issue of sanctions will not affect the composition of the security delegation negotiating on May 29, but any objection may be recorded from one of the members of the delegation on matters that may affect sovereignty during the negotiations.

He added that the main goal of the sanctions is to restrict a specific environment, and this has become clearly visible.

Regarding the issue of filing a grievance by persons whose names are on the sanctions list, Ashmar indicated that this possibility is available and the person can provide evidence that refutes the allegations, and then the penalties can be reconsidered.
